RiskWatch is an innovative wearable fall-detection system that combines cutting-edge hardware with intelligent software to provide comprehensive healthcare monitoring and emergency response capabilities. This project won 2nd place in the Grainger Innovation Prize, recognizing its potential impact on elderly care and health monitoring.

My Role

I led the development of the companion Android application, which serves as the central hub for the RiskWatch ecosystem. My responsibilities included:

  • Android App Development: Built and updated the mobile application using Java
  • Real-time Vital Monitoring: Implemented health data visualization and tracking
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Communication: Developed robust wireless communication between the wearable device and smartphone
  • Amazon Alexa Integration: Created a custom Alexa skill for voice-activated alerts and multi-modal emergency notifications
  • User Interface Design: Designed interfaces for both users and caregivers
